BEAUTIFUL + GREENTECH
Architecture
Mission Statement
We demonstrate that it is possible to design aesthetically intriguing, inspiring buildings and urban spaces that set new standards for the transition towards environmental sustainability while remaining economically viable. This, for us, is the key to the future.
Our Approach
Langhof ® , a studio for architectural design, stands for a unique style of its very own. All the buildings we have designed, which each have a wholly individual character and often receive awards for excellence, have become paragons of modern architectural design. Architecture by LANGHOF® is distinguished by its harmony, beauty, and careful utilization of resources. For a lifetime – and beyond.
When taking on a project, we make sure to look at the big picture in all its complexity. Which is why we combine our unique and visionary design approach with smart technology. That is the success formula we call “BEAUTIFUL + GREENTECH Architecture.” We define this architecture as a new code of sustainability that encompasses far more than isolated environmental measures. It is an architectural symphony that becomes grander the more intensively and ambitiously it manages to integrate all the relevant ecological, economic, social, and cultural factors into a unified aesthetic concept for the present and the future. It is a perfect interplay of all sustainable technologies, ensuring the efficient use of energy, resources, and materials. It is about creating an intelligently designed location that has the power to draw people in, allowing them to feel at home while also becoming part of their identity. The result of our work is a customized high-rise concept or other exceptional architectural structure that shines a beacon into the future.
As a studio for architectural design, we concentrate on the fields of preliminary conception, detailed design, planning for submission together with the building permit application, and overall artistic direction.
Positions
A longing for emotion
We are convinced that it is neither the space, nor the functions of a property that users feel attracted to, but the experiences and emotions it evokes. Therefore, we are exploring ways of approaching those longings, desires and dispositions in our architectural concept and design. Outstanding examples of architecture can satisfy this longing for identification and emotion. They create certain atmospheres, tell stories and touch people on an emotional level. In this way they are enormous projection surfaces for peoples’ dreams, memories, desires and longings. They are built for the future and because of that create a lasting value.
Buildings as Brand Personalities
It is our aim to design interior and exterior spaces that are unique and combine the new with the familiar, in order to establish a lasting emotional connection with their users. It is less a question of authenticity but more of the power of images superior architecture evokes. Buildings must create an atmosphere of credibility and leave room for imagination. They are supposed to stimulate curiosity for the impression they leave behind and capture their own place in the memory of emotions. This is how buildings become living environments that are successful in the long term and will continue to exist. As an integral part of the value-added process we succeed in creating an independent and credible brand personality for a property, generating an economic, cultural and aesthetic added value.
Form follows fiction
The aim of all actions is to create an overall atmosphere. The starting point of any project is the definition which atmospheres are to be created, which stories to be told and which emotions to be stimulated. Only after that the form, the intended use and the communication strategy are established. More important than an artistically revolutionary concept is a design that uncompromisingly serves the effect it aims to achieve. Therefore, the solutions and proposals are invariably special, unique, custom-made and user oriented.
Win-Win in Urban Planning
The win-win philosophy in urban planning implies that a sustainable future can only be created if it is not built at the expense of others and everyone involved in the urban development process benefits: the constructors, the residents and the city itself. For urban planners this means thinking out various “futures” and providing conditions that make investments in the future pay off today. Also, it means to ensure that development opportunities for future generations remain unspoiled.
Copyworks / Sampling / Culture-Crossing
Close to the motto „Only create something new, if you are certain that your new creation is essentially better than existing choices” a basic principle in design and development says that you do not have to re-invent the world every time. There is an abundance of excellent problem solutions out there. You only have to adapt them to your own situation and use them for your own purposes. Nor do you have to create a new style of architecture, but rather transfer the method of sampling to architecture. Various established design elements from different cultures and eras are being re-assembled, complemented and adapted to the new task at hand. This new, unique and special way of piecing together different elements to form a new composition becomes the “piece of art” of our work. As a consequence, architects and urban planners become masterly writers and directors, who do not invent the characters of a play from scratch but put existing characters into a special network of relationships and in doing so they tell a completely different story.
